Exploring Hybrid Realities
Estela Oliva is a director, artist and curator whose work is inspired by the impact of technology and the internet in human behaviour, society and our surroundings. She creates hybrid environments in which the physical and the virtual blend, unfolding connecting narratives and cerebral experiences. These projects come to life in experimental formats as exhibitions, programmes, experiential events, installations, web experiments, VR experiences and films.
She has produced festivals, curated exhibitions and projects around the world including Into the Wild, exhibition for Makerversity at Somerset House and New Realities, a touring exhibition which travelled to Mobile World Centre Barcelona and Espacio Fundacion Telefonica Lima. She has also produced events and projects for brands including Instagram, Sedition and Google.
With extensive experience working in the digital sector, one of the defining moments in her career was working for Google UK for six years, since then she has been developing as cultural entrepreneur working in art and technology founding and driving projects such as Alpha-ville, a cultural agency and festival of digital culture, and New Rituals, an event series exploring identity in the post-digital age at London's Barbican centre.
Estela currently works independently as creative director, curator, and also as an artist through her project CLON, a hybrid project for art and new media. She is also founder and director of Digital & Nomad, a digital agency and studio crafting digital services, products and experiences for clients from the non-profit and commercial sectors.
